The Studi-Ticket issued by Stadtwerke Konstanz is valid for all urban bus routes in Konstanz (including to Landschlacht, CH) and for all ferries between Konstanz and Meersburg (incl. bicycles). The ferries run every 15 minutes throughout the day and every hour at night.
In addition to the Studi-Ticket from Stadtwerke Konstanz, it is possible to purchase a VHB upgrade. This VHB Studi-Ticket entitles the holder to use buses and trains (2nd class) throughout the VHB network. Your connections therefore include, among others, Allensbach, Radolfzell, Singen, Engen, Stockach and even Tuttlingen and Sigmaringen.

Around Lake Constance, for example, in Meersburg or Überlingen, there are a relatively large number of holiday homes that are rented out to students over the winter. As the accommodation situation in Konstanz at the start of the winter semester is comparatively quite stressful, you could at any rate tide yourself over for the first few months and then look for accommodation locally.

In accordance with the Federal Registration Act, you must register at the residents’ registration office within one week of moving into your accommodation. Only applies to Konstanz: at the beginning of the semester, the citizens’ registration office can be accessed at the university and at the Hochschule Konstanz University of Applied Sciences (HTWG), in other words, you can register directly on site at your university.
Please note that if you wish to register your place of residence as your secondary residence, then a secondary residence tax will become due.

Students can normally obtain a ‘Wohnberechtigung’ (entitlement to accommodation) for Switzerland without any problem. You must either apply for this at the registry office in Konstanz or at the residents’ registration office in Kreuzlingen:

Arkade JuMeGa® (young people in host families) is looking after unaccompamied monor refugees living in host families. In the framework to forster their independence these young refugees shall have the chance to live in a shared flat with students or aprentices. Their experience during the time in the host families showes how all of the people involved benefit from the intercultural living together.
Arkade e.V., based in Ravensburg is the landlord of the shared flats (you can find it on wg-gesucht, eBay Kleinanzeigen and as well as on our Seezeit-Zimmerbörse). A special service supports the young refugees and if necessary, is contact for the other flatmates. Apart from that is the idea of the concept a open and independent shard flat living.
