For the winter semester 2019/20, the amendment to the BAföG comes into force. A new application is also worthwhile if no or only a small subsidy has been calculated in a previous application.
At BAföG there is practically no risk of default due to the social repayment terms.
Here are the most important changes in a nutshell:
- The housing supplement increases to 325 Euro (for non-parents Studis)
- The maximum subsidy rate rises to 853 Euros per month
- The child care supplement until the age of 14 rises to 140 Euros
- The income allowances (spouses / registered partners / parents) increase!
- Students over the age of 30 or over receive a higher health and care insurance supplement, up to a maximum of 189 Euros
- Parenting is taken into account until the age of 14, when the age limit is exceeded and when funding is granted after the end of the maximum period of eligibility
- Home care for close relatives from Grade 3 onwards is recognized as a reason for extended support
- The KfW bank loan is abolished, the graduation aid is an interest-free loan
