Three young adults are out on a day trip together.

In the summer, travel to Strasbourg, Alsace or as far as Paris at no extra cost.

Just a short trip from Constance, Friedrichshafen, Ravensburg, or Weingarten – and across the border into France: From 1 July to 31 August 2026, you can travel throughout France’s Grand Est region at no extra cost with the Deutschland-Ticket or D-Ticket JugendBW.
The offer is available to young people under the age of 28 who live in Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, or Saarland.

From Lake Constance to Grand Est

Strasbourg is always a great choice: a charming old town, street food, cafés, and a touch of French flair – all without extensive planning. For travellers from the Lake Constance region, Strasbourg is an ideal destination for a day trip or a weekend getaway.

If you have more time, continue on to Colmar, explore the vineyards or the Vosges Mountains, or visit one of the smaller towns in the Grand Est region. Even Paris is an option for a long weekend – but be sure to check the required free reservation in advance, as bookings must be made via SNCF Connect. Instructions can be found here: Guide to Reserving Tickets via SNCF

By the way, the fastest connection from Constance to Strasbourg takes just 2 hours and 55 minutes. From Friedrichshafen, travel time is around 3 hours and 40 minutes, depending on the connection. If you're travelling from Ravensburg, you should allow a little extra time.

How to Plan Your Journey

The best way to plan your route is with the bwegt app, the DB Navigator, or SNCF Connect. Make sure to select connections on which the D-Ticket is valid during the summer promotion. In the bwegt app, you can disable long-distance services; in DB Navigator, select the option “D-Ticket connections only”.
