We know that many of you are sorely missing the CampusCafé. Today we inform you why the CampusCafé has been closed for so long and how we will continue.
A look back
We had already planned renovation and remodeling work in late December / early January. In addition to a new coat of paint, new sales furniture should also be set up. But before we could start with these innovations, we noticed that something was wrong with the floor. Ultimately, the work, which was initially classified as small, turned into a rather large project. And so fate took its course. What some people know for sure: The CampusCafé as well as the entire university is a listed building. Therefore, the monument preservation officer must always be involved in larger works and check the planning. A total of eleven companies (craftsmen / kitchen planners and builders) have taken a closer look at the premises in recent weeks. We have recently received the permits so that we were able to commission the work.
What will change
As it turned out on closer examination, the floor of the café is brittle and leaky, so that it has to be completely removed. As soon as the surface is restored, tiles are laid. The walls are given a new coat of paint and are partly covered. Once this work is done, there are new connections for electrical and water. Last but not least, the CampusCafé receives new counter and refrigeration furniture, as well as new sales counters and showcases.
Unfortunately, we are currently unable to provide an exact time for the reopening. We strive to open the doors of the CampusCafé as soon as possible and to spoil you with our coffee enjoyment in a great new ambience. Please be patient!
Until then, you can stock up on coffee in our mobile campus café at the SaftBar. It is open from Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. And the BibCafé is also available as an alternative. Here you get coffee as well as delicious things like hot souls, cakes and much more. Until February 15, it is also open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.
